Well I am probably in the minority. I do not collect guns
All mine get used or they go. I just sold my Ruger M77 all weather boat paddle because after buying my daughter the standard Ruger American in .308 & it out performed my M77 + the M77 was just to nice of a rifle to be beating & banging through the thick woods of NH it sat in the safe since. I can not stand having safe queens. So it went & I ordered the Predator little nervous about it having only having an 18" barrel but we will see if it is a shooter when it comes in I will do a review as there are not many on the predator in the .308 most reviews were done with the 223 or the 6.5 Creedmoor. I will also try & do one on the standard American & I also beleive I forgot to do one on the SR1911 but there are so many out there on that one I really don't need to do one

I know HM for one I can't afford a collection (kids wreck everything)
2) would be time to shoot them all
I have nothing against collecting them I guess I have come to the understanding for me if it isn't a tool I can use I just don't need it

Bushmaster Carbon 15 New MSRP $865.86-$956.31
The Bushmaster is a nice AR but the thing to remember is seems like everyone & their brother in the firearm industry is making AR's Although the price is not bad depending on the scope & case (not a great deal)
You can get some well built AR-15's for under $700 new
a few years ago I would say $700 for a bushmaster was a steal but the Market is flooded with them. Most used AR's around here are selling in the $500-$600 range of course depending on accessories & Model
There is a reason Ruger had to add the AR556 to the SR-556 line up

yes Sir the black rifle market has dropped a bunch you can now probably build a very nice one for the price of an economy rifle. The lowers are dirt cheap it is the uppers that gets expensive depending on if you want gas impingement or piston driven

Karl it seems to be the way Ruger is heading with a lot of their guns
they have great features standard that you would pay extra for from other manufacturers
Well brought home the Predator last night and although I may be Bias towards Rugers I will say if this shoots as well as the standard American my daughter has this may be another home run for Ruger
quick unboxing review as I had to go to bed when I got home last night
I didn't really like the green stock in the pictures but when I opened the box that was the first thing that that I noticed it looks a lot better in person
it is a synthetic stock & light weight so it does have that "toy" feel to it but with the heavier barrel it is not as bad as the standard American. Full magazine & Bipod & without Scope (can't believe I forgot to get Rings)
it weighed in at just about 7.25 pounds finish looks really nice American line has a flat black blueing. Bolt is pretty smooth but will be polished to make it perfect. there are very little machining marks on the bolt that give a little zip sound when working the bolt but can be easily removed. I can't say enough about the Ruger Marksman adjustable trigger smooth & crisp. Drawback is you need to remove the action from the stock to adjust & This one is set to the heavy end approx 4.5 pounds adjustment is 3-5 pounds so I will be dropping this closer to the 3 pound mark. The flush fit rotary Magazine is OK my model hold 4 rounds. They are all plastic feel kind of cheesy but I have not had any issues with the the standard American & I guess it is a lot lighter when carrying spares. For the price of this rifle you would expect some cons about it but from what I see so far they are minor Here are the Specs & features of my model
Stock: Moss Green Composite Capacity: 4 Material: Alloy Steel Finish: Matte Black Barrel Length: 18.00" Overall Length: 38.00" Thread Pattern: 5/8"-24 Weight: 6.25 lbs. Twist: 1:10" RH Grooves: 6 Length of Pull: 13.75" Sights: None-Scope Rail Installed
Features:

  • Ruger Marksman Adjustable™ Trigger offers a crisp release with a pull weight that is adjustable between 3 and 5 pounds, allowing shooters to make that perfect shot.
  • Ergonomic, lightweight moss green composite stock (designed for quick, easy handling) blends a classic look with modern forend contouring and grip serrations. Swivel studs are installed.
  • Soft rubber recoil pad is crafted for maximum recoil reduction.
  • The one-piece, three-Lug 70 degree bolt provides ample scope clearance. The bolt also utilizes a full diameter bolt body and dual cocking cams for smooth, easy cycling from the shoulder.
  • Power Bedding® is an integral bedding block system that positively locates the receiver and free-floats the barrel for outstanding accuracy.
  • The heavier tapered, threaded barrel is cold hammer-forged, resulting in ultra-precise rifling that provides exceptional accuracy, longevity and easy cleaning. (1/2"-28 thread pattern on .223 Rem., .204 Ruger and .22-250 Rem. calibers; 5/8"-24 thread pattern on .243 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win. calibers)
  • Features an easy-to-actuate tang safety that provides instant security, visibility and accessibility.
  • Rotary magazine fits flush with the stock and offers the smooth feed that has become the hallmark of Ruger® rotary magazines.
  • Also features a factory installed one-piece aluminum scope rail. All This for an MSRP 0f $499 & I believe they are selling around here for $399 & less I will get Pictures & Update the review when it stops raining & I install the Nikon

1st Shots

OK so here are the first 2 shots 105 yards after sight in
had to stop as it starting raining hard took four shots to dial in after bore sighting Trigger is very crisp but came set @ just under the 5# mark will be adjusting down closer to 3#'s. I started out of the gate using Federal Fusions
in my hunting party there are 4 other Ruger Americans 2) 30.06 & 2) .308's
The federal fusions have worked great in those so I stole um borrowed some from my daughter (which I bought by the way) in 165 grain
first 4 shots were at 50 yards to make sure I was hitting paper made adjustments to dial it close put it about an inch high & moved to 100 yards paced off ranged after with my Nikon prostaff 7 rangefinder & came out to 105.2 yards below are my results. I think for an economy rifle this will be a great hunting rifle for me here as most shots are under the 100 Yard mark but I am not done if there is a break in the weather this weekend I will be testing it out & the BDC to at least 300 yards
I will say even though it is heavier then the standard American due to the thicker barrel but 4" shorter. it does have more recoil then the standard but no wheres near what my M77 .270 had. I will update the long range shots when I can get out to do it
I am also impressed with the Nikon Buckmaster 4-12 X 40 scope. For a $150 scope it is very clear & smooth adjustments
