Remember the past Christmas gifts? Wildlife Research Center has once again donated PEE products to DHC. Many thanks go out to Wildlife Research Center and also to Buck Fever for securing the donations. Yours truly is the PEE handler :sadbanana:so with BB and TG and BF we will be able to continue the tradition. Because the products are produced for the 2013 season, I would like input regarding how we might want to do this year's contest. My thoughts would be to distribute the PEE for use this fall and not wait for Christmas, however, bucking ( no pun intended) tradition is not my style either. I am just thinking out loud that fresh PEE is best used in the season it is gathered. Let us know your thoughts and ideas. There are 3 different scent products along with wicks and how to booklets.

I'm sure we would all like to extend a Big Thank you to the Wildlife Research Center for once again, Donating their product for the Deer Hunter's Club Contest.
I'm not one for changing traditions either but I do think it would be good to have the "Pee on hand" for the upcoming deer seasons.
My theory is that using Pee isn't very effective anytime during the early hunting seasons and don't usually become beneficial until we move closer to a Buck's rutting periods.
So I'm thinking it would be good to get the Pee out to the hunters for like a Deer Hunters Club "Fall Extravaganza, Pee-On-Hand" Contest. LOL or some other catchy little phrase... :w00t:

On the fly, Thank You, we appreciate all member input, my feeling though is that the new members have just as good a chance at winning in the contests as all the other members,
so personally, I think any contest the DHC does should be for all members to enjoy.

I'm liking the comments so far! FYI, when I bow hunt PA I catch the last couple days of pre-rut then full rut. I think this is the perfect time to use rut related products. So many times have bucks came into scent wicks for our group that I can 100% attest to their positive use as an additional tool for taking deer. Scent wicks placed in a Y formation at specific yardages from your stand site are perfect markers to insure your shots are with-in your effective kill range. I have never had a buck adversely react to scent wicks, however, at times they may walk past them without paying attention to them. For me rut scents are simply another tool to achieve success.

HM Me either I never had great luck with just hanging scents best luck I have had was just using scent killer
Last season I played with Mock scrapes & did get a few shots on the cam of deer that were interested in it & were actually using the scape

GFD2, many times the bucks will knock them off the limbs I have hanging over mock scraps at night, as if they are mad, frustrated and move on. I at least know I have one buck in my core stand area. Many times if I can't get a good tree stand location near the natural scrapes then I use mock scrapes close by the rel ones to pull the buck into bow range. This tactic has worked several times over the years. Finding the natural buck travel routes with rub/scrape lines makes all the difference when using the rut products. Some will argue why use any scent when you know you have a hot buck travel route identified, my thoughts are, when he is down wind scent checking and doesn't get the message, you may not even know he was there. The rut products will send the message and generally cause a positive reaction. Nothing is ever as good as the real McCoy but might just give you a trophy of a lifetime?? This is especially true when low doe #'s are present and the bucks are traveling big time to find them.

HM I really think that is part of the Problem in my area I would almost bet we have a doe to Buck ratio of at leat 5:1
OH & by the way this in no way means I would not take a Christmas present LOL

Thanks to WRC for donating the products to this great forum and also to BF for his work in getting us such great products. I do use there scent killer, but have to admit ive never tried there scents which I would love to give them a try. Having the scents as fresh as possible would also be a big +. My last 2 season were not that great so anything I could use to get my hunting back in order would be awsome. Have tried alot of things the past 2 season, but they were mostly food products not scents. Hope to be one of the lucky ones and get some to try out
