Going to WY to hunt antelope with my dad in 2012 just wondering if the area we are going is a good place. Did not ask my dad what unit it is we are going to hunt i'm pretty sure were gunna hunt in the area around Casper though. Just wondering how picky I should be about shooting a good 'lope. Also: would plain leather work gloves work to stop cacti from poking you, if not what inexpensive gloves will. Thank You and Have A Wonderful Evening.

I don't hunt pronghorns in Wyoming, but I live in, and hunt them in Montana every year. As for cactus -small prickly pear are ubiquitous in this part of the country, so you would be wise to plan for them. Leather gloves, unless they are really thick won't keep them from getting you. Personally, I haven't found any gloves the will prevent you from getting stuck - just be careful where you put your hands down when crawling. You might consider getting some hard (padded) knee guards - the kind builders use - to protect your knees. In any case, bring a pair of small good tweezers as there is almost no way to do a good pronghorn hunt and NOT get stuck. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask me any additional questions as I have killed a lot of antelope.
