The 69A is a bolt action. You might be thinking of the 1890 or the 1906, they are pumps. The only Winchester .22 I got is a 290 semi auto. Its an ok rifle...not fancy by any means. I prefer my 1955 Marlin 39A Mountie by a long shot. I've also got a 1970's Winchester 94 30-30 that is a great rifle.

I have pre 64 30-30 and a 1871-1971 NRA 30-30 I still shoot them on occasion. To be honest I prefer the Savage 99 in 300 sav, mine is an early 50's eg model rifle.

old school

what impressed me was how solid it was built.it had the feel of a full size ceterfire rifle.the trigger broke like glass, zero creep,u could tell it was built to last a lifetime.

Reading about the pre-64 30/30 brought back memories of hunting with my grandfather in my younger days. I used that rifle a few times and wish it was sitting in my gun safe, but it's on the 'other side' of the family and will probably remain there.

My father-in-law owns a Savage 99 in .300 Savage. He bought his in his youth and used it well for several decades. I have a Remington 81 in .300 Savage that was handed down several years ago. Haven't had much of a chance to use it -- something I plan on fixing this fall. Can't wait to see how it performs.
