Happened to my buddy last year. Best blood trail I ever seen for over a mile and never found the deer. Our flashlights ended up going dead and we got lost for a long time in the middle of some government woods. Started tracking at 6pm got home at 1 not much fun that night luckily there was a little moonlight.
