OK guys and girls I have a Rem 710 30-06 bolt and it's had on the original scope that came with it for years, Bushnell 3x9-40. Now I'm looking into a brand new scope that has great low light capabilities, wider field of view, and of course, greater zooming in capability. I know that this subject has been talked about here in the past but I couldn't locate too much in a search. Also, what are your favorite brands and why? Thanks for any help/info.

Field of view was one of my concerns also.Last year a bought a Nikon Buckmasters in 4.5x14x40 and hated it because the field of view was terrible. As I posted earlier,I now have a Pentax Pioneer 4.5x14x42 and love it.It was 165.00 brand new. However,I feel that Bushnell scopes have one of the best field of views out there.I would love to try their 6500 series scopes.Good luck on your choice. It's crazy sometimes when we(hunters)spend more time thinking about what scope to buy,or camo,etc.. than what new car to buy.To me it's easier when it's not hunting related.

TG, you didn't say how much the budget would allow, but I like Leupold scopes now. Many of my rifles carry older Redfields and they were great scopes back then. If I had the money Swarovski would be the one I'd purchase.

TG I have the same 30/06 that you have. The scope that came with our weapons is junk. Mine fogged up on the last say of a 3 day ghunt I booked in N.C. last year. This spring I put on a Ziess Conquest 3~9x40 and have not been more happier. Yes, buy as much scope as you can afford. I look at it like this, all weapons will shoot (cheap and expensive), but the quality of the glass take priority over the quality of your weapon.

Some years back I was looking into a scope to top off a Rem 700. I was looking at the Nikons scopes in the $500. range. very nice scope and it really pulled the light in. I never did get one.

I have since seen some very very nice scopes on the net. sure would love one of those, but my wife would kill me cause they look like they would require a second mortgage to get one.
