I have been trying to find out the answer to this issue for several weeks, since not scoring a deer with my bow...the Mossberg manual is not clear and doesn't even address my question and there seem to be many different opinions about what choke tube to use...so, my question...What choke tube should I use for optimum performance of 3 inch 00 buckshot for whitetails in medium cover...Please consider that I do not have access to a range to go and pattern the shotgun (it is a Mossberg 500 pump, smoothbore barrel, not a slug barrel) A guy told me yesterday that shooting the full choke with buckshot, and slugs would ruin the barrel...which makes no sense since full choke was all that was available before choke tubes were used and nobody blew out their barrels shooting these types of ammo. :w00t: HELP!
