Thought I would write a little something from time to time, if you want to read it you're more than welcome, if not, well you don't have to read it i guess!
Looking back on this Christmas season, I really tried my hardest to remember the true meaning of the Christmas holiday. It was, at times, hard to do, but I did it, and it really meant a lot to me. I guess as you get older, you get wiser, and you begin to realize that life isn't about yourself. Having a child and a wife, I quickly learned that. I wasn't self centered by any means, but from time to time I was a little too self-involved.
With New Year's comes New year's resolutions. I have made a couple myself. The first being knowing my temptations and praying right when I get tempted to sin. Sin is something that without prayer, can overrun your life, mind, body, and actions. The second one, (and I think everyone has this one!) is to exercise. I need to drop some pounds. It doesn't help when I have a mother and mother-in-law and wife who all cook awesomely! It's going to be hard, but I think I'll manage. I like to run when losing weight. Now, that said, I hate running just for the fun of it. That's not me at all. I also have a particular diet I made up that works pretty well. I eat that honey bunches of oats cereal for breakfast and lunch and then a good dinner. I make sure all my food is eaten before 6pm (this helps your body burn off the calories before you go to bed!) and I limit myself to only water and milk, and OCCASIONALLY a diet coke. The third resolution is to spend more time with my family doing dad/husband things. I feel like I already do this, but I'm going to try this even harder this year. and finally the fourth resolution is to read my whole Bible in a year! My church does a "read the Bible through" program every year. It's pretty neat. For the past 2 years I've tried it, but got behind once February hits. For anyone doing this, make sure you pick a time of day when you read your Bible and stick to it. If you get a day behind that's ok, but more than that, you are going to be loading up on reading for awhile!
All in all, I'm going to try and focus more on God and my family more this year than myself. I think it's also important to be more forgiving and less judging of other people. My wife and I were driving home from Church yesterday and we weren't in the car 5 minutes when I began to judge someone who was at Church that morning. I felt horrible. It's almost like second nature to us. Alot of times we don't think about it when we do it.
I sincerely hope each and everyone of you guys have a happy 2011 and I hope you will also keep God and your family first in your lives. But remember, to always keep GOD before anything else, including your family. After all, he is THE Father.
Verse for today: Ephesians 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
