Tonight I shot (at) a whitetail with my .45 flintlock muzzleloader. The deer was approximately 25yds, straight on. It was right 15mins after sundown, 15 mins prior to dark, and besides, the smoke makes visualizing shot impact tough. I saw no blood at the site of assumed impact. Assuming I hit the deer in the middle of the chest at this angle, what organs or lack thereof was I likely to have hit. I plan on looking for the deer first thing in the morning.

Thanks for everyone's help. I chose to go look the following morning because I was unsure of the shot. Turns out, I should have had more confidence in my shot because it was a great shot, hit him a couple inches off the midline towards his left. He was about 100 yards down the hill in the creek. Unfortunately, the darn coyotes ate up his loins, hind quarters, and the entrails were everywhere, so the meat was pretty well ruined. The only good thing was I found him, his head/antlers were well intact, so I can have him mounted. I'll try and post a picture of this nice 8 pointer, my first with a muzzleloader! Does anyone know how to attach an image?
