well we finally got our first snow of the year and now it seems that deer movement has stopped... well at least in day light. the deer are still coming to the food source just not until well after dark. crap. (not to mention the fact that our season goes out 1/1. Running out of time)

also, whats the best way to make your way to a stand through the snow and not be loud? Our snow has about a quarter inch of ice on top so at each step crunch...

they will move in a day to open up food sources. Patience, and watch the trails to food sources .

oh meant to mention... the temperature over the last couple days have really plummeted. This morning it was in the upper teens verses not hardly having a frost until this last week. What should I do? Like i said, the movement seems to have gone strickly noctural

well the deer were back today during the daylight. Today was upper 40's and the deer showed up 3 hours earlier than normal. Which brings me to another question.

WHats the best way to try and get deer to come back when spooked? This afternoon i jumped 4 does feeding. THey ran off with flags flying but never blew. They didnt come back. I've had bucks run off while feeding, but have grunted them back (actually on several occasions)

They'll be back by morning. There's no way to be quiet in crunchy snow. Just get to your stand and they'll move later in the morning.

I think that when the deer blow it is really over in terms of hunting them cuz they're outta there for quite awhile.

Had a little spike come out of the trees not 15 feet away from me. I froze in place while he took a couple of steps in my general direction. Took him the longest to figure out that I was there before jumping back into the trees. Thought that was the end of him until he came out and blew loudly right behind where I was sitting. Scared the @#$% right out of me when he blew.

Really thought that was going to be it for the day, but hung around for another hour or so anyway since I really had nowhere else important to be. Glad I did! The 8 point came out right when it was almost too dark to see.

had kicked up some does couple of weeks ago. they blew and i blew back at them. stopped 1 long enough to put her in the freezer.
