Roofing It

Me and a bunch of fine fellows roofed my dads house today. Architectural Shingles was what he went with. I am one burnt looking *******.

Technically speaking we arent done yet because we ran out of shingles.

He got an estimate from a roofer here in town and ordered his shingles off that estimate. With hindsite being what it is we should have remeasured. We were 3 square short and the lumber yard was already closed once we realized we werent going to have enough. Im guessing the roofer forgot to add the front porch. Anyway we were smoking it. Tore off and layed 27 squares by about 2 pm. This one dude brought us a lift. Talk about awesome. No hauling that heavy junk up the ladder. Those modern looking shingles are a whole lot heavier than 3 tab.

I enjoy being a part of stuff like that. No body getting paid, just there to lend a hand and help out. Couple of wives grilled some grub and took care of lunch for us. The only thing missing was free knee replacements!!

Deeds from the heart always have the greatest results....
I havent been on here as much as I would like to be lately. Busy week for sure. Finished up the rest of the roof and ridge cap Monday, worked mon and tues night. Dumped all the shingles Wed, put up 284 bales of hay Thurs, back to work Fri, Sat, and Sun. Gotta get in the garden today as well. Does being busy slow down the older you get?

Nope. The only thing that slows down is you.
naw, just keep a shorter list thats all!:whistling:
"Nope. The only thing that slows down is you."

I'll second that one!!! But you can't let that get to you, otherwise you'll just keep getting slower and slower until you're taking two steps forward and three steps back.

But great work BF . . . from the heart is what counts the most.
