I really enjoy hunting with the old stuff, I would not retire them I'd enjoy the heck out of hunting with them. You can always pass things down. I still enjoy hunting with flintlocks so I may be out in left field on this one. One of my favorite deer rifles is a Savage model 99 in 300 sav cal, it was made in 1952. I don't consider this an old rifle. Old to me is pre 1900 rifles.

Hunt NH, no bashing ever entered my mind. I simply think guns were meant to be enjoyed period. Taking care of them can include hunting with them. Put a little nostalgia in your hunt, its a great feeling for us old timers.

Yep, I agree, onhorse. and everyone is not a trophy hunter so shoot what you set out to harvest and be greatfull for the success. Besides, I believe that kids should be able to cut their teeth so to speak on any legal animal just to learn about life/death/nature,patience,disapline, and everything else associated with hunting. I would love to kill a true trophy animal someday, but I will continue to to enjoy hunting and filling tags as long as the Big guy allows me to! This may not have followed the post theme but... anyway I love hunting with the old stuff as it adds something extra/special to the hunt.
