If my memory serves me when this problem occurs you may have some partially blocked gas ports and simply need a really good overall cleaning of the gun. The gas ports on the older 1100's were a problem for the low brass shells getting stuck when fouling occured as it doesn't allow enough gas pressure to cycle the action completely. If you have the owner's manual just follow the cleaning instructions if not I'm sure you can go on line and locate it. Maybe Bruce can locate it for you he's a wizzard on the computer!

I grew up with the 870 but several hunting buddies had the 1100's and ran into the ejection problems. I don't know about any of the newer Rem auto's and if the same problem occurs? I would think they corrected this problem.

I had a similar problem with a winchester 20 guage auto and after a very intense cleaning it would still jam. A friend suggested a product called Eezox and after a cleaning with that stuff it has not missed a beat again. I couldn't believe all the crud and junk that came out using the Eezox after I had already cleaned the gun.
