I have a friend who swears by them. he has them on everything he owns shotgun, muzzleloader, rifle. he is not shooting past 100yds.only uses them because his eyes are not what they used to be. Myself under 100yds fiber optic sights are great check one out.

I would suggest looking at a holographic sight. These sights are great as you do not lose any field of view. I have one on my 12 gauge slug gun and my Ruger 10/22 with a target bull barrel. Both sights are 2 MOA (dot covers 2 inches at 100 yards). I can consistently hit gophers well over 100 yards with the 10/22. This sight is great for deer in heavy cover and low light, especially when the legal hunting day has just started or is about to end. From my tower, I shot a doe running towards me in heavy cover when the hunting day was almost over (low light). I could not have had a good shot if I had been using a conventional or red dot scope.
