I've heard of guys doing it, but the case dis-formed and it was horrible accuracy. I don't know if I would recommend it without one of these though.

CHAMBER ADAPTERS

No it cannot.
my .02 worth says if it aint stamped on the barrel dont put it in the chamber. it could be the worse day of the rest of your life.there is alot more to it than just fitting in the chamber. like putting a 45LC in a 410. it will work, but alot of bad things can happen. The 410 is not designed for that kind of pressure.barrel could split or worse you could get parts of the chamber in your face. Be very carefull if your gonna do stuff like that. Best thing is DONT do it

That reminded me of this video.

Also, a 308 rifle can fire 7.62x51 but a 7.62x51 rifle cannot fire 308 due to 308 having a higher chamber pressure.
i was realy hoping that the .308 could fire 7.62x39mm. but im not going to do somthing that could possibly be dangerous.
reason for all this. i realy like this gun.
Ruger® Gunsite Scout Rifle Models
but i want to be able to stock up without brakeing the bank. so i just might end up going mini 30
HuntNH I like the scout rifle too but it is pricey
Love my mini 30 very accurate rifle & almost no recoil
if you want to try a mini before buying one just let me know
They make .308 cratidges. Why would you shoot anything else?

yes. thankyou. im only in the early stages. kind of doing my reserch. but would definatly apreshiate the chance to shoot one befor i drop several hundered dollers on a gun.

because im looking to stock pile ammo. and 1000 rounds of 7.62x39mm is alot cheeper than 1000 rounds of .308

Like someone said before - if it ain't stamped on the barrel, don't put it in the chamber. Best/safest advice I could give on the subject.
