Rage 2 Blades

4376 Views 11 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Hunter4Life
I have used several different brands of broad heads over the last few years now I am shooting the Rage 2 blade 2 inch cut. I shot a doe this past weekend and could not find it. Decent shot slightly back, but I should of found it. I gave it several hours before I started looking. Anyone else have any problems with these.

what? no blood trail? I'm sorry you weren't able to find the Doe but after all the hype with them rage "BADheads"
I'm shocked it didn't bleed to death after just one or two steps, at least that's what the Rage makers and users will try to have us all believe.

I wonder if you experienced a "failed to open" broadhead?
Were you able to see it run off for any distance?
Rage has a guarantee, are you aware of it?
the Rage guarantee says, "Get your Game™ or your money back!
Guaranteed for up to the retail price of the product."

Your loss is the very reason why I will never ever use mechanical badheads.
Smells fishy I think. The rage will open and a 2" hole and no blood? Come on.
Thanks for the Rage guarantee info I might take advantage of that and go back to Muzzy. I agree it is fishy I should have found some blood, but I didn't. I have a 1 year old blood hound especially for this reason, but I couldn't go get him in time because of work. This is why I asked because I don't know what happened.
Im am also a fixed broadhead myself,,, but doesnt the Rage have like an inch and quarter cut even if the blades dont open? A pretty good shot with a 1 1/4 cut it should still take the deer. You find your arrow? Im assuming it passed through?

Am I close on the cut size even if it does not open?

One of the reason I liked fixed is I think they are tougher and can go through bone a little easier than the mechanicals.
I have read a few reports here of late about some hunters that say their Rage 2 broadhead did not open and was like a field point on enterance and exit. I don't personally use them, but have thought about getting them and trying them for next year. But I just don't know right now since these reports that I have read on other forum boards.

The good reports that I have seen along with the pics of the recovered deer were awesome.

I do hope you find the deer to see what happened. I did shot a buck once that had no blood at all. Hit him high and it lodged in the chest no exit. Found him 100 yards away with a chest cavity full of blood. So it can happen and even with a Muzzy I guess. Those whitetail are some really tough animals. Shot a P&Y yesterday that died so quick he didn't have time to bleed. He only went 25 yards or so. They don't go far when the pump house doesn't work. Doesn't always work that way but sure is nice when it does. Well I'm out of here heading to the woods saying NEXT!!!:bye:
low exit holes, you gotta like them. I will be using the Muzzy MX3 heads this year vs the 100gr Muzzy older 3 blade. Hard to destroy a muzzy head.
I have to agree with everyone about the muzzys. I am using the MX4's and have shot one deer so far with them and it is a relief to not have to wonder whether or not a broad head opens. My doe didnt go 20 yards max. I shot through two rib bones and made a clean pass through and the broad head is still good and sharp. Most mechanicals would be useless after hitting the first bone.
Ive always used 3 blade spitfires never had a problem, but one of my seasoned mentors explained to me that a deer quartered away could be hit and only one blade open and change flight.I hope I explained that right, but anyway he uses rage and swears by them with great success,so Ive decided to try them this year also.
Well, I haven't found a reason to make a switch just yet.
my uncle and buddy both shoot rage 2's and i here nothing but praise...buddy shot a small 9 pt and said it went about 40 yds and dropped. He also said 3 of his fingers could fit in the entry hole...As far as muzzy goes Ive had to resight my pins in when i went from field tips to those. bought slick tricks and they seem to fly just as true as my field tips
