what rifle would be the best for shooting rabbits at quiet a long range with out wrecking the meat. there is quiet alot of wide open spaces where i am shooting. i am shooting on a huge dry stock farm.:yes:

would you reckon a .40 cal?

nah .22 for sure...no question all though 8 shot for 12 gauge doesnt really ruin it as u think it would?

From .22 Long Rifle to a shotgun you will be fine. I used to use my duty load, a .38 Special +P 158grain Lead Hollow Point. Worked fine. For ranch work, and to save money on duty loads, I would use standard 158 grain Lead round nose. They worked fine too. Shotgun from #8 shot to #4 shot did the trick. But, a good balance in the .22 mag, as was posted earlier, and you will do fine. Are these cottontails?
