anyone have experience shooting the powerbelts? I have heard mixed reviews on these, but wanted to try them out. i was out at the range on friday afternoon with my nephew, but I only got a chance to bore sight and take just a few shots. It is getting closer, but need some more time at the range to see if they will shoot consistently. what do you guys think of these powerbelts? I know I like the way they load...much easier than the sabots.

I use 250gr Barnes expander bullets with a Harvester Crush Rib sabot...I can load it with 2 fingers. I would trust my life on a Barnes bullet.
I've heard the same info, you either like them or not. Seems like those with a slight overbore have better luck that the tight bores like in the TC line. From what I've seen owners of CVA rifles report good accuracy from the power belts. I haven't tried them.
Well, I have a CVA optima now, so maybe they will shoot well for me. Will report back after thursday at the range.
I shoot the 295gr. Powerbelts. I would recommend getting a pack of 245 as well as 295 Each gun shoots a little different with each. From what I've been told. Originally I had the 245's but while sighting my rifle in last year, a friend gave me a couple of the 95's. With my rifle (CVA Kodiak) I get better accuracy, consistently with the 95's. Good Luck.
I shot the245s out of my tc and did o.k as far as groups but upon some experimentation at the range found the tc superglides to be more accurate and consistent.

as would i i agree! i shoot barnes spitfire tmz 250 gr boatail sabots in my t/c its accurate as hell:goodposting:
I purchased a Traditions Pursuit LT this year and have always used the powerbelt 245 gr. While sighting in this new rifle, I couldn't keep even a 7" group. I decided to try TC shockwaves and put the next 7 shots within a 2" group. Knowing the rifle was sighted in accurately I tried the powerbelts and again all over the target. I have switched. Just seemed too inconsistant for me.
I shoot the Powerbelt Platinum 295 thru my Knight KP1 with excellent results.

You got a Knight KP1 too? I love mine....even better I got it for $200 brand new. :)
Looks like these will work fine in my gun. I sighted it in finally yesterday at noon, and it is holding a 4" group at 100 yards. That's not perfect, but I think it's good enough. thanks for the comments...maybe I'll try a different combo next year.
Flexj I take it you're shooting open sights? 4" @100 with open sights ok, if scoped then I'd switch to something different as you indicated, for next year. I haven't tried those powerbelts but like I posted earlier it seems about 50/50 as to whether a rifle likes them or not. My TC triumph digests about everything equally TC Shockwaves, Barnes, and Precision bullets. The Knight did about as well. Good luck hunting hope you score with the ML.
I actually put a scope on this one. I wasn't going to, but when I got the gun out of the box I found that they shorted me on a set of sights. I went to buy some, and just decided to get a scope instead. I feel like I am cheating now...

Thanks, and good luck to you too! Are you taking the flintlock out this year?
Hopefully, I've covered both Ohio and PA with late season vacations.
Switch to Hornady

Before I bought my TC Omega I used a Traditions Buckstalker. I started with the 245 gr. PowerBelts and 2 50gr. 777 pellets. This load shot 3-4" groups which some would say is hunting accurate. Being picky about accuracy I tried Hornady's 250 gr. High Speed - Low Drag sabots. I now shoot 1" groups at 100 yards with both guns and these sabots are just as easy to load as the PowerBelts. Hope this helps.
