Hi I am very new to bow hunting, in fact, i am completeing my hunters ed course on Sat. I've been looking at the Gander Mnt Eclusive TecHunter Xtreme 2 2009! Any thoughts or suggestions about getting this bow. I really like the feel of the bow and have read good reviews for it! Its made by Diamond!

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the site. Just this past fall I purchased a new Diamond bow for my son, he returned it, didn't like it at all. That's just one person's opinion. Overall I think they are fine mid priced bows.

welcome to the forum and the hunting world.the first thing you need is the right frame of mind.bow hunting takes a lot of patience and discipline..the rewards are worth it though.you need a proper fitted bow and arrows and a good practice target or range to go to.try to practice year round.start small and work up to longer distances.I shoot from the ground and from a tree stand.you need to wear a safety harness every time if you go up in the trees.I suggest the Hunter Safety Systems vest style .wear your hunting outfit when you practice so nothing surprises you when you draw back.I wear a arm sleeve from team realtree and recommend it as well..hang around here and im sure you will pick up tons of knowledge:yes:

If possible buy your bow from an archery specialist instead of a big store like walmart. The reason I say that is you will pay a little extra but the expert setup and advice you get is worth way more than the price saved. Getting a bow setup properly is everything in hunting.

If you don't have friends that are well experienced in shooting form I would look for an archery club to join. Remember the old coaches saying "practice don't make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect"

I have a few friend that are well into hunting and they are going to teach me how to shoot! That's the reason i got into hunting. All my friends do it. Itsa like mom said "If you friends jump off a bridge, would you too?" Well, I guess so mom! LOL
