I think we will just see more weight reduction as they discover better composites. Mathews just put out the Helim that weighs only 3.5lbs.
New bows?
I think the industry has reached a temporary standstill as far as technology.The speeds are incredilble and i dont how much more they can go.The last big jump was PSE with the X force and its speeds.I havent seen a new bow interest me in a while.What do you guys think the next big advancement will be if any?

I think we are still going to see another jump in speed. You know these companies want to be the first to hit the 400 fps. I agree also that things are going to keep getting lighter.

I said after the 2011 Improovments, I didnt think PSE could improove the flagship bows. and their really wasnt any industry changing breakthroughs in the 2012 line. But when change does come it will be in the same trend they have been moving all along. Speed, quietness and shootability. nothing comes close to a PSE.

I do agree wth the the advancements in the weight, speed, quietness & shootability I think all the bow manufactures have room to work with here
weight may be the toughest I think only reason I say that is they need material that is strong & lightweight but at the same time keep the cost down look at the Hoyt carbon fiber line shaved about .5 pounds off the bow but very expensive because it is a time consuming process not many average hunters can afford a $2000 bow (setup)
Plus I think they can also go to far with weight reduction it still has to have the shootability. maybe it is just me but I seem more steady with a little weight behind it.
For me I think the bows are plenty fast enough
I would like to see them work on quietness and shootability without sacrificing speed & weight

I can't keep up with all the new bows. Seems like a new one will come out every 6 months. Still shooting my Bowtech Tomcat.
I agree Kemster my hoyt ramage XT will most likely be my last I bought at the end of last year. upgraded only because I wanted something a little more compact. killed 2 deer this year with it so unless the deer start moving faster like couger speed I see no need for all the hoopla with them but it is funny when you think that it is just a compound bow what else can they do to it one of the manufacturers come out with something that just makes you say WOW

I feel left out here lol I shoot a Diamond but I cant complain at all I like the way it shoots. My son who is also 14 yrs old has a Diamond and killed his first deer with it and I couldnt be more proud. While his buddys are all shooting crossbows he is the only one shooting a compound. I think he enjoys it as much as I do. I am thinking maybe next year getting a new bow and probly should shoot several diff ones but I just cant see spending 1000 dollars on a bare bow. I mean the prices are pretty rediculous. makes me want to keep mine cause it kills just fine ya know?
Both my son's and mine are Diamond bows from Bass Pro, they are fast quiet and light. :yes:
it is rediculous I like the hoyt mainly because of the hand grip fits me very well & it was what my bow guy recommended on my last bow so I have stuck with them I own a rampage XT $600 bare I asked him what was so different about the Matrix & Element (carbon fiber bows) He told me the riser that was it same limbs, same cam just a carbon fiber riser for over $600 more. That was not a hard decision at allI am thinking maybe next year getting a new bow and probly should shoot several diff ones but I just cant see spending 1000 dollars on a bare bow. this is where the bow manufacturers could make the biggest improvement. build and sell the same bows they have right now, with no physical improvements at 1/2 the cost to the customer.
Anyone looking into a new bow should at least try out a Martin. They are very high end bows for a very mid level price. They are also USA made, for over 60 years. I love mine and will only buy Martin from here on out. They also have amazing customer service.:thumbup:
