from some more seasoned hunters. so i found a place with a ton of sighn. rubs, scrapes, and more deer scat than iv ever seen in one place. it is the place i have benn hunting sence opening day of muzzelloader season. (opened sat.) any way, for the last 2 days i have benn seeing coyotee's, and no deer. this morning i didant see them but they were only a few 100 yards away talkin up a storm. what would you guys do about it if you were me? go back and help the coyotees take a dirt nap. hunt somewere elce for a few days and hope the coyotees move on. or ditch the spot compleatly?

I would stick with the hunt, the Coyotes are going to move out of the area soon and when they do
the Deer will be aware of it and that's when you want to be there, So I say stick with it and I bet you'll be happy you did.
Good Luck
would you hunt somewere elce for a day ot too till they move on? i was kinda hoping everyone would say help them take a dirt nap.
That was my first thought, nuisance coyotes need to be controlled.

Would be good to snipe a bunch of them out of there but I'd avoid doing it during the hunting season expecially if it's a spot that looks like it may give up a good harvest for ya.
ok, but once i get my buck there done.:boxing:
should i be at all concened with bumping into them on my way to my stand, well before daylight. or are they no threat to me?
If you can carry a pistol with you, I'd take it along, I've been surrounded by yotes and it's an uneasy feeling.
I dont think they will attack but who knows, better to be safe than sorry. Any animal can be a threat even a house pet.
after a long talk with ronn, and then with the land owner. i have decided that these coyote have lived long enuff, tormented the land owner too long, and have killed one too many house cats. tomorow these coyote are going to take a dirt nap.

before anyone gets their hackles up, I only say that because of the numbers of them. 2 or more packs in a pretty small area. if it were only a couple dogs i'd say stick with deer. not to mention huntnh has other properties to deer hunt on. based on what i know of the area better properties.
i would estimate that there is 4 packs. and with more and more land getting posted in the area. takeing these coyotes out for the land owner more than likely garrentys ill be able to hunt this land even if it dose get posted. plus as ronn stated i have 2 other propertys that are better than this one.
i was thinking about this, and the fact that this desishion needs to be defended sadens me. wether there is 3 coyote or three packs of them. or wether it cost me my deer this year or not. this land owner is kind enuff not to post there proporty. she is afraid to let her kids out to play during the early morning and late afternoon hours, and has lost a family pet, and had a coyote in her back yard the other evening barking at her. i think as a responcible hunter , and a stewerd to the non hunting comunity that takeing swiff action to take care of this issue for her is the best thing i can do to create a positive relashonship between hunters and the general population of non hunters. i will try to bag me a deer on the other propertys i can hunt, but i am going to manage the coyote pupulation in this area.

I agree, help her by relieving her fears to go outside and the safety of her kids. Those dog rats need to go.

i understand what you are saying but if there were only 2 or 3 she wouldn't be having the problem. the pack mentality makes coyotes brazen and bold. plus with that many there is less to go around so more desperate actions on their part must be taken.

Right on HM........
tough call hunt nh I think you should go for it and take a few dogs out. I am sure this will give the landowner a piece of mind and probably will secure that area in the future for you to hunt because of this.
i shot a tree rat today to use as a decoy. im more than likely going to be hunting the coyote starting tomorow.

coyotes will eat there own kind.
