I am hunting a new spot this year. I have hunted this farm for years, but this spot has been to risky to get to without being spoted by deer. It is a north south funnell that connects two bedding areas. It is about 60 yards wide. To the west is a pasture that the deer avoid. To the east was usually soybeans which made it hard to aproach from that direction and I didn't want to come from north or south where the deer are traveling. This year they have corn to the east so I can get to my spot by walking through the corn or the pasture. I will be hunting from the ground (pop up tent) because the funell is just brush and weeds. I planted some brassica/cover mix right at the end of the corn field and my stand is about 15 yards into the brush from there. Finally my question. I could rototill a strip on the other side of me and plant some rye or something (I realize it's getting late for much else), or am I better off leaving it undisturbed. I am leaning towards the latter. By the way, I am after 8 points or better if that makes a difference.

Thanks. Your right, there is not a ton of cover- maybe 20 acres that I am hunting, not including the corn. There is more on surrounding property. Sometimes I think I have a good plan, but I just need to hear someone agree with it. After I posted that thread I re-read it and thought "God, that sounds confusing."

The bedding areas are north and south of me. My blind will be up against some brush, but I don't need to do any clearing for shooting lanes. I'll just cut some to put in front of and on the sides of the blind to help it blend in. I am anxious to get it out there, but I don't want to put it out too early because I've read on this site that they can get weather checked and fall apart. I've hunted from the ground a lot, even bow hunting if there isn't a good tree in the spot that I need, but this is the first year I've had a pop up blind.
