Mountain Lion Traveled 1500 miles, Dies

Interesting read. I guess we have to watch our backs now as these cats can be anywhere. Maybe all these sightings that the state game departments deny hold some water afterall.

I don't really like the idea of me being knocked off the top of the food chain in my woods. I have never seen a cougar myself, but I'm sure there are some around. It never fails that I start to think about those kind of cridders as I walk in or out in the dark...spooky

Interesting report. One has to wonder if the reports are totally true and by that I mean the 1500 miles? DNR doesn't want any reports of local populations for fear of panic. State DNR's have repeatedly denied that the big cats are in the midwest even with photos and prints. I use to think about the bears when traveling in and out in the dark and PA has quite a few of them where I hunt, but big cats do present a whole different issue. Everything I've read is they are fearless and will attack whenever. Wonder where the cat was heading....home? :whistling:

that story was fake just ask any F&G officer there aren't any mountain lions on the east coast HAHA

I'd seen that last month when the story first came out. Being from Connecticut myself, I read it with great interest. I'll add that a very good friend of mine from back home (NW Ct) told me in February that he'd seen a mountain lion a few weeks before. Seeing as how he's been hunting for many years and taken about 100 big game animals, I did not doubt his word. Wonder if it was the same cat.... :shocking:

And here's what happens when wildlife have to deal with the drought conditions that we're going through. We're on day 43 or so of 100+ degree weather here in Central Texas. Past week solid they've been over 105.

In PA the person would receive a hefty ticket for shooting a bear just heading for a drink. Most cases require some sort of evidence that the bear was going to harm you. Just shooting one because you saw it, doesn't ride well with me. Maybe there's more to the story??
