Not sure. I think I've seen them around here but then I think I see a whole bunch of different kinds too. Do you eat them?
I love mushrooms but don't know enough about them to try eating any wild ones. :shocking:
I hate those things!:thumbdown::yucky:
Fried morel mushrooms taste pretty good. :thumbup:
do they go well with Tators?
haha, no they don't go well with tators! haha Actually I don't eat them, can't stand ANY mushrooms, but the in-laws and my wife love them to death. These type of mushrooms are safe to eat- many types aren't however. Typically they are around 4 inches tall, but I've seen some get 8-10 inches some years. They always come up during turkey season (right around April 18-24) every year. We find them alot around sycamore trees for some reason. Three years ago we found probably 2 five gallon buckets full, but most years you get just about 1/4 that. This was a down year for them. As far as I know, no one knows how they grow or where exactly they are going to grow each year. Many people have tried to "grow" their own version of the morel, but it can't be done.

gonna go out today just to see
Love them !! Morels are awesome meaty flavor, my cousion found 110 blacks Thursday.
I went out Friday afternoon and found zero. It's been warming up here and supposed to get a little rain tomorrow so they should be popping up any time.
My son just a little while ago brought me 4 blacks n took off to look for more. Hope he comes back with a sack full this time , :;):
