The last several days I have not seen deer as usual on the property I hunt. I was told it was nothing to worry about probly nothing I had done to run them off. Some friends told me deer will move over several miles, sort of a migration and will return a few days later. Anyone ever had experience with this. Just in case I have not hunted in several days, was out today checking feeders and water.
Thanks, Charlie

Yes Bucks will move several miles
we have a couple that we know have been seen on camera almost 12 miles away
another thing that happens is before the Rut it is not uncommon for bucks you may be seeing all summer vanish some call this the September swap they may leave your area and you may start seeing deer you haven't seen before

Just my thoughts.. Everyone else feel free to speak their mind..

Dont the does pretty much stay around their home turf though. Granted they may run a bit with bucks chasing them but they will move back in fairly quickly. Like same day or next day?

Buckfever-- that's been my experience. The does tend to stick around while the guys go wander around! I also know what you mean Charlie, the deer on my place are either hiding or gone for a bit. I'm sure they are still there, but rememeber they don't always use the same trails over and over and over again. That's why when you walk in the woods you may come across many trails.

Thanks Again

Thanks for the replies friends. yes, I was talking about all deer, does & bucks. I was out today filling feeders and saw none, very unusual. Usually spook several up anytime I go out. I wonder if it's because it is so dry here, both of our tanks are dry. I put a couple tubs out with water about a week ago, as someone suggested. I think they may all be moved closer to the creek about 3/4 mile away, not on our property. I have been staying out of the woods for several days, I don't intend to go out again until maybe Sunday.
