i dropped my first deer with my Mossberg 835 loaded with the Remington CopperSolids. not a fan of remington ammo, and dont hunt with the mossberg any more other than turkey. that doe never knew what hit her. the Hornady SST's are great in the 12 ga. just depends on YOUR gun. my 835 might like one ammo, and your 835 might not. just depends on how much recoil you can handle.

yes. the factory 835 turkey barrel will explode if you shoot a slug out of it due to being overbored. thus, i picked up a rifled slugger barrel for it...lol..... wasnt going to go against the recommendation to not shoot slugs out of the Ulti-Mag barrel..

the difference in the overbore/non is huge. dads 870 remington is nice, but cant hold the groups at distance that the overbore can. and with the ulti-mag choke, it makes a hell of a difference.
