OK everyone, what you got? My wife and I have been thinking for the past few years that we need a new mower. We're to the point where we need to purchase one. Wanting a zero turn. Looking seriously looking at the 60" Gravely. Anyone ride around on one of these? Something else?:vs_peek:

Riding lawn mower? Don't have one, but sure do like the Husquvarna push-type lawn mower that I purchased last year thru my local Bobcat dealer.

Is your land hilly???

I don't have a ztr for my little 1/4 acre but I have a friend that found out the hard way that some ztr mowers are a little weird mowing side hill yards. Not all drive systems are a like and some have a swivel wheel in the front and rear. That doesn't leave anything to stabilize the mower unlike a conventional yard tractor with conventional steering. I would consider asking to rent the unit you are looking at for one mow of your yard if you have any questions about whether it is a good fit for your needs.

Thanks guys. I have about 4 acres to mow and I have a 46" rider now. We were looking at the 60" gravely but now thinking we'll save our money and wait... Kids are young, another one on the way, guess it's time to play grown up and put off the "wants" and focus on the "needs".

For that size I'd look at a small tractor that can be used with a mower deck, especially if you might also use if for gardening, snow plowing, and or any kind of minor construction with backhoe attachments or such. You limit yourself with just the mower-specific machine.

Well we broke down and bought a 60in Gravely. It was a really good buy and we couldn't pass it up. Scorp, I did consider the small tractor angle, but just didn't have enough $$ to purchase one of those. Would love to have one though...

Is the Gravely one of those sharp-turning riders that use two stick handles for controls?
