Hey Guys
I have always shot my CVA Hawkins .50 cal with blackpowder and ball,
But want to know if the pellets will be ok to shot in my side lock with powerbelt bullet. I bought a box of 50/50 Pyrodex Pellets not reading the label (just going on friends comments) then before loading notice the package stated "only for inline". I have tried to contact CVA, Pyrodex, and the local big box stores with no responses. Powerbelt did respond that their product (295 grain hollow point) was safe for the side lock percussion rifle.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

The problem is the ignition of the pellets using a #11 cap not much power to properly ignite the pellets, which fire from the bottom unlike your sidelock in from the side. I'd try to sell them to a buddy and go to 777, or Black Horn powders. You could invest in a in-line rifle, the cost on these can be very reasonable and you'd increase your range/accuracy to boot.
