We estimated the drop of a 270 caliber to be about 35 inches over 400 yards in a recent video we did. Some say it's more, some say significantly less...anyone here have the definitive answer?

Not enough information, What brand ammunition was used and what was the grain weight of the bullet.
I don't think any .270 round would drop 35 inches at 400 yards.

If You Zero In At 1.4 Inches High At 100 It Will Be 18.9 Inches Low At 400yrd With 130gr This Is From The Remington Site

The only sure way is to shoot that distance and see. The gun will make a difference too from my experience. If you're going to shoot that far I'd suggest 150gr BTSP. Drop will be more but the heavier weight and boattail design will stabilize longer. Remember the gun will probably shoot better than we do...grins...so the ballistics charts are just a guideline.
