We have a week break between shotgun and muzzleloader in R.I so I did a little scouting seeing as I could not hunt.My question is this I found an area that is obviously being used for bedding lots of droppings old and new and beds made in the pine needles.Several of there travel routes converge about 50yds from this area, is this to close to set up a stand?I can easily slip in this weekend and will be downwind of the area. What are your thoughts?

Well if it's a bedding area, that's where they are sleeping or laying during the day time hours or at night. either one. I have a firm belief that deer don't have just one bedding area. They go places during the day and bed down for awhile, and they go places during the night and bed down for awhile. Now, sometimes, this place is the same but not always. If I were you, I wouldn't get within 50 yds of this spot, to me, that's too close and you're going to spook something out. I would find a good spot 100-200 yds away and watch closely. I would still come in downwind and watch those trails!

I agree with Tator if you're going to be using a muzzleloader there's no need to get in so close only to end up pushing the deer out...

find the trail they use most often to enter the bedding area but stay away from the actual bedding area.what you found can be very rewarding if your smart about it.the tempting thing to do is set up right on top of them but dont do it.observe the trails and find your spot and then you dont have to disturb them. they will stay comfortable there and you'll get your chances

This is the end of our season and I would consider doing a SLOWWW spot and stalk into the area using the wind to my advantage. Only because this is the last weekend in NH.
