How Accurate Are .22 Rifles For Small Game?

Hey guys I am thinking about buying either a .22 rifle or a break barrell pellet gun(like the gamo whisper) for shooting squirrel and other small game. I was wondering how acurrate are .22 caliber rifles from 50-70 yards with a good scope mounted on them. I have heard wonderful things about the accuracy of pellet guns from gamo, but I wasn't sure if the .22 bullets shoot as straight or drop a bit at such a range? They are both priced about the same. I have very little experience with both and any advice would be much appreciated.

In my Opininion they're extremely accurate. with the .22LR (long rifle) cartridge
You may not even need to use a scope if you're just shooting between the 50 and 70 yard range.
Along with the .22LR (long rifle) You might also want to look at the .22WMR caliber (winchester magnum rifle)
and while you're looking into the small calibers for rodents you might be interested in the newer .17 calibers also,
extremely accurate and quickly becoming as popular if not more popular than the .22's

Both calibers the .17 & the .22 are great calibers for all small to med. size game both are equally effective on Coyotes too...:w00t: :w00t:

Good Luck.
Have a gamo whisper(.177) myself deadly with lead pellets. Not to fond of the pba ammo seems to be all over the place.
