ok so i am 15 and i am planning on going deer hunting next year, i live in PA, in the country, i am around 180 lbs and 5'9 6', i am wondering what gun i should get, i have a old 12 guage, but it just kicks like a son of a gun, and i dont think i need that much, its a bit much for me, what guns would be best for me, i am stocky built btw if that matters,

.30-06 is a round that will never ever die. its been around a long time, and you can get just about anything you like for it. weather you want FMJ for target, soft or hollow point for hunting, and it will do just about anything you tell it to. it can reach out pretty far, if thats your style. my suggestion for you and your stature, is the old -06. i had one, never hunted with it, but im 5'8'' 165 and it wasnt all that bad to shoot. even on extended range sessions. but any of the cartridges hunting man will do the job and then some.

ok

ok well i have only shot these three guns, 410,22, and a 12 guage with pumpkin balls or slugs, and the 12 guage was, ehh i didnt really like it, the only part im scared of with the 30-06 is the scope, my dads firend shot one, and broke his eye bone, and it was nasty... thats wat im liery about, but other then that ill try anything,

A Marlin 30-30 is a good rifle. With Hornadys LeverEvolution ammo and a scope its a 200 yard deer rifle. I've got an old Winchester 94 30-30 and its a nice gun, you just cant mount a scope. I think something like a Savage 111 in 30-06 would be a good gun for you. I believe they sell it with a scope for about $400.

What WD said!! I have a Marlin 336 and used Hornady LeveRevolution in 160 grain last season. Buck I hit took 2 steps and dropped. Great expansion on the round.

As far as the Savage 111 - Have one in .270. Recommend Remington Core-Lokt 130 grain. Very accurate rifle/round combo. All depends on your personal preferences.
