·i have two very very nice bucks on my trail cam that only come out at night, how do i hunt them?
what? were they born 6 months apart? check your state laws before baiting with trophy rock.I have the exact same problem with a nice 4 y/o 10 point and a HUGE 3 1/2 9 point. They only come out in the dark. It's been my experience that as the weather gets cooler, the deer move more. During the hot summer months, the only thing you'll see out hardly is does during daylight. Those big bucks are like us BIG people, we like the air conditioning when it's HOT out side. My suggestion would be to continue to watch them and take notice to which way the deer are traveling. are they coming from the right or left of your cam? That'll help you later on when it gets cooler out and they are more on the move at dawn or dusk. Plus, not sure if your state has baiting laws or not, in Missouri we do, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the trophy rock. it's about $15 at your local farm and home store or hunting store. Well worth it-- your bucks will come to it, guaranteed!
i agree. Most likely just keep track of them on the trail cam and hit them during the rut. Watch for the doe travel routes and fall feeding areas that does use and set up for the bucks. The rut is about the only time a smart nocturnal buck may show himself in daylight hours and sometimes they never are seen! Also, it doesn't take much to register and become a member here.
They may come to the trophy rock, but they will be doing it during the night. putting out any food, licks or any other type of attractant will not change the hours of visitation. You might consider a mock scrape with a scrape dripper to get them to appear during the daylight hours when the pre rut starts.I have the exact same problem with a nice 4 y/o 10 point and a HUGE 3 1/2 9 point. i hear ya .I don't think it's cheating... i just don't think it's fully fair. Just like the turnip beds i've planted... obviously so that they will attract deer. My problem is that two of the neighbors do food plots, so I have to draw the deer to my hunting spot somehow. I do have water.. which the neighbors do not have. I'm hoping turnips and H20 are just what the deer are ordering this fall!
To be quite honest... i would probably bait with anything if MO legalized it.
word .We've had our share of discussions regarding baiting, plots, piles, blocks ect. I agree if a human planted it, piled it, grew it and shoots over it it's baiting. I usually hunt 1/2 mile from my plots but one could argue that somehow the bucks are on trails used by does going to/from the plots. Its hard to win a discussion when its not a natural food source. This isn't a slam on baiting, just calling it what it is. Also, probably best not to continue the never ending issue. :crybaby:
I have the same problem with you. help me pleaseword .
