I have a Garmin vista that I picked up before my trip to the BWCAW. I think you are going to have to part with some $$$ if you want a mapping system to work within the unit. I picked up the lake maps for my area and it helps some. I have found lately though that my cell phone with google maps is more detailed. just cant put down bread crumbs and set up routes

Ok. Here is the deal. Last year for christmas I got the garmin etrex. And I need to find a better map system. The one that came with it is no good. It barely has city streets. And I don't want to spend 60-80 for a map. Any ideas?

Yeah. That's what I have used in the past. I have the android. And google maps has been cool. I can mark vantage points and my blindes. But I guess I'll have to just let the moths out of the old wallet and fork over some cash. I have heard of some web sights that have free map downloads for free. But id rather pay for quality. I wish I could put my blm maps on the garmin. That would be nice.
