I killed my first deer of the season, a doe, yesterday morning in Moore County NC. She popped out on a logging road I was overlooking from a tripod stand. She started feeding, after a minute or so was startled by something and hopped up above the logging road to my left. She stood for awhile and then turned around dropped back onto the logging road and started feeding again. This time she was standing slightly quartered to me instead of head on as she had been initially. I shot her at 7:04 AM and got the near side lung and the liver. She ran about 30 yards before she piled up. My 7MM-08 Federal bullet did the job quickly and neatly.
