This is the story of my first crossbow hunt/my first deer ever:

So, I have gone rifle hunting for deer but have never had any luck.. I decided to buy a crossbow, mostly because my father had one as well and i though it would be fun to go out with him hunting during the week or on weekends instead of only going the one week of rifle hunting. So we woke up this morning at about 5am. He came down, woke me up...we had some coffee and headed out.

Once we got to the area he walked me to my stand and helped me get the crossbow up the stand and he left to go to his stand and of course warned me to be very still and very quiet.

It was windy day so i would hear the win hitting the leaves and would get a sense of exciement everytime i heard the ratting, picturing a deer walking through the leaves towards me. I eventually figured out that i was only the trees in the wind.

Then, i heard distinct noises coming from the side of my stand and it sounded like some sort of thumping/walking. I thought for sure that this was my deer, i paid close attention to that direction for about 10 minutes until i saw the rabbit that came out of the woods.. and realized it was the rabbit all along and not a deer.

It was about 10 to 8:00am ... and i heard running it was DEFINATELY DEER this time. Four Does and a fawn came running in. I thought they were going to run right by but they didnt, they stopped for a snack and stould by the apples. A buck was at the very back, but it didn't seem to want to get close, plus the does were stomping their feet and i thought that they were about to take off again so i took a shot at one of the biggest does. The doe didn't run, and it didn't drop, it just stared at me and started walking normally .. so i thought i missed.

Eventually they took off and i was so discouraged ... i thot i missed, the first deer i ever shot at, HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED?.. after some waiting i searched the area no blood no arrow.. or atleast i couldn't find it. So i kept looking and i finally found some blood up ahead my dad showed up at around this time and we revisited the area that i shot the doe and he found the arrow below some leaves, it hit a rock however and broke the broadhead. The arrow was full of blood so i was soo excited at this point.

We started seraching and eventually found her laying there on the top of a hill. It was an excellent hunt, and i hope to have many more!
