I was sitting in my stand bow hunting, it was real windy, and i wanted to move my stand for the up coming shot gun season. I found a big rub on the ground so i set up like 20 yrds away(all in a swamp). So i was breaking branches and banging and clanging, and when i steped up into the tree to get higher to break more, a big ten point spotted me and took off from about THIRTY YARDS AWAY!!! When he ran, he ran about thirty yards and stopped behind some brush and i hid behind the tree so i dont think he saw me again., then he sort of "jogged" across a feild, flag raised. Do you guys think he will come back or will he never return to this area??

Oh he'll be back I'd bet on it... even if he saw you or smelled you trust me he will be back BUT you raised his awareness in that area so he's going be Extra cautious before he enters it... BUT You just get in that stand early and sit quiet and sit real still and you'll see him again....

your probably on his home turf this early in the season. down south anyway there not running does yet. i dont think you did enough to run him off for good. but like bruce said he may be on high alert in that area for awhile now.

I bet you will be seeing him sooner than you think. Last year a had a nice 8 point bust be one evening and the next evening i shot him 10 yards under my stand. He was only a 124 inch deer, no bruiser for sure but he didnt even glance up at my the evening i shot him so i would say keep on that deer and you will get your shot. Good luck and i hope to see you showing him off.

oh you have no idea. That would be the biggest deer of my life! I cant even explain how excited i got just from seeing him run from me.. deer hunting is incredible, i start getting cold just off a doe lol.

I agree with Bruce and Buck, as long as you don't overstay your welcome in that area, hang your stand and get out until your ready for the gun season. Then come in scent free and quietly. Till then GOOD LUCK.

yea well im away at school til thanksgiving. that was the first time ive been back for about a month, and was only in there that night. So hopefully things will settle down for when im back.
