2 years ago after taking my last doe of the season, after i shot her, she started kicking like crazy when she hit the ground. i had never seen that before. got back up to the truck and a buddy explained to me that it was to try to kick leaves all over herself to hide herself. it was a short range kill, maybe 50 or so yards, so we could see it pretty clearly. has anybody else ran into this? i know its kinda off the rifle topic, but after being shot with a fairly potent round, i was just wondering if this was a 1 time thing, or if it happens alot.

i understand the nerves, but a guy i met a few months ago said it was a death kick, on top of the final nerve shot shall we call it. they try to bury their bodies...dont know why.

this is the reason i only hunt with my 270 now. love my Mossberg, but when you have a doe running full force at you, ya gotta make a decision. that was my first year hunting since my recovery from some pretty severe injuries, and my adrenaline was too high. i made a bad shot, but it all ended pretty quick for her. i figured i would ask some of the more exp. hunters.

thanks,
Brandon
