They are not really strutting. They are drawn to a food source and just happened to show up together. usually this time of year you don't find gobblers and hens togther, I don't think. I'm not a tukey hunter and don't know a heck of a lot about them. But I see them together in the yards around here but not often in the woods. Best I can figure, there are about 200 birds in three or four flocks and they are destructive as all get out.
they also pose somewhat of a danger. one of my neighbors had to build a cage for his grandkids to play in. I told him I would come over and flat blast the bejeesus out of them any time.
My turkey seem to always want to jump up on my wife's truck. My Tom struts all year long, he loves showing off. If anyone new pulls in my driveway he will not come out of full strut. He's too funny some times.
But for wild birds, this time of year the toms are usually by their selfs ( their group) and the jakes run with the hen's untill spring then the James will split from the hen's an strut too. And don't under estamate a pair of James will put a hurting on a big ol Tom in a spring fight if they team up on him.
Be kinda hard to function properly without my iPhone !! It's my phone, computer, gps, picture album, camera, camcorder, music player, board dr office waiting area game playing (solitary mostly), 99.9% of the time I brouse and post on this forum n my golf cart form it's all on my phone. Like said I love my phone, the auto correct for the most part helps me out because im not a great speller to start with so if I'm close it will fix but if I'm off it will change it to what ever but half the time I send before I look and don't catch it. So yeah auto correct can some times make me appear dumber at times than my nourmal dumbness.
