CVA Accura V2 bullet question

7828 Views 15 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BruceBruce1959
I'm still new to muzzle loading and after reading a number of posts on a number of different forums I have to ask what may seem to be a rediculous question. Does anyone just buy a bullet of choice and sabbots and a bag of sabots of choice? It seems pretty expensive to buy these packaged bullets with the sabbots.
Just wondering?

same answer for question you asked, some do, most probably don't. I tend to find factory loads give me 1-1.5" groups at 100 yds and that's fine for hunting. I just purchased two different weight bullets to see if the TC Omega will finally shoot well. I just got it back from the factory. Right now the Knight disc, TC Triumph, TC Fire Hawk, and Traditions Pursuit all like the TC 250 gr superglide saboted bullets behind 100 gr of Black Horn and Remington ML 209 primers.
check out the Harvester Bullets website. Our V2 loves the 260gr Harvester Scorpion PT Gold with the black mmp sabots ( hph-24 to be exact) along with 120gr Blackhorn209 and cci 209magnum primers.
Thanks I'll check out the website.
Almost forgot, the hornady SST's in the black crush rib sabots also do great in ours.
FG, I just ordered the 260 and 300 gr in the PT Gold Harvester bullets along with additional 50 CRS's. Hope they are what you claim to be. :boxing:
MY goal is the Omega. The Triumph seems to have a very tight barrel so I'll just have to see what shoots well. Not sure what the factory did to fix the Omega's barrel but will head to the range this week to see if anything. I'd like to move up in bullet weight. The Harvester stuff is for range trials for next year, maybe late season ML this year if they will shoot ok.???
Perfect!

Heres todays results from a member of mine using his TC Omega, 110gr BH209, PT Gold and a crush rib sabot.

very nice buck and he knows what ml to use.
Well I'm placing an order now for the scorpians looks like the way to go. Nice buck too!!!
I shot the 300 grain Scorpion PT's yesterday 1.5" groups using 2 White Hots and resting on my four wheeler's seat at 100 yards. I'm happy with the results for this season but can't wait to experiment with some other powders and shooting from a bench. Thanks for turning me on to Harvester Frontier!
Awesome! Im glad they did great for you on the range. Just wait till you punch a deer with it!
well i used the 300 grn harvesters and 2 Whitehots. Took two does both just under 100 yards both went down within 10 yards taking out the lungs on the two of them. I think I'll stick with their bullets and sabots and play a little with different powders...just for fun.
congrats on the kills!

How'd the bullet perform on them as far as expansion, penetration, exit hole?, blood trail?

my buddy Stuart took this Doe Saturday morning, Dec. 03, 2011, opening day of Vermonts muzzleloader season.
Stuart was uisng a CVA Wolf and the front sling mount broke completely off when he shot this Doe. She weighed in at 130 lbs. dressed.

He kept the Doe, he's getting rid of the muzzleloader soon as it's repaired, hopefully CVA will replace the stock with one that will last longer.

Hard to tell but the sling mounting tang is broke completely off.
