Does a computer lose all of it's memory and stored information when it gets unhooked and unplugged for awhile. Maybe a couple weeks anyways. I've always dreaded making a backup disc or whatever that process is called to keep info. I hope that I don't have to do that. Any input/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

depends on the computer... but 99% of computers will never loose data from being unhooked as long as u shut it down properly before u unhook it... and if you are going to store it make sure u store it in a dry place.

A computer will never lose data from storage, the worse that could happen is the internal battery will die
and you'll need to reset the date and time when you set it back up.
You're good to go.

bruce is right i am pretty decent with computers i have to work with all different sorts for work. but i would just for safe keeping if you have anything important put that on an external harddrive and keep it incase something happens and the computer gets damaged and you cannot salvage the hard drive.
