Anyone hunt with a buddy, a son, a brother etc etc and maintain any kind of communications? I was thinking about using bluetooth ear buds and cell phone to communicat with my son this fall. you can usually call or answer calls with the touch of one button. makes it nice when you really dont have the use of both hands all the time. anyone else already try this?

predatator,
My buddy and I use just walkie talkies and set a preset time to contact each other. Such as early muzzleloader season it is a long time between daylight and dark and some days you just don't feel like sitting all day. OK one runs by at noon , good for him, but that's the way we do it.
I don't know if there is anything in game laws anywhere that prohibits it?

there is here. you can't say "buck headed your way" but you can say "i fell and can't reach my...." its mainly a safety thing if i'm hunting with someone. that or texting. i'll sit it a tree and text buddies hunting in ky or md. its kinda mind blowing texting with a guy telling you there are deer headed for him and he's 24 hrs away.
No, theres no laws here prohibiting the use of walkie talkies or phones. Just electronic game calls. I used to use walkie talkies but they were a little on the noisy side.
We used walkie talkies for a while with the ear buds. It was never to say the deer are coming to you but when some one shot it was good to know if they needed help tracking or what ever.
we only use radios with earbuds for assistance, if someone downs an animal and needs help hauling it out or if someone needs help tracking a blood trail etc., etc., etc. but those are about the only reasons we utilize them..
Use walkie-talkies - sometimes with buds - when hunting with someone. Illegal to use them to locate game or tell your companion where the game is. For anything else there OK. I use a personal locator device if hunting alone. Always bring a cell phon , but can't always get service.
I bought a set of radios when my wife started hunting. Seldom do we hunt together although we're not that far apart and I like some communication between us in case she needs me. My sons and I will text a little while on stand...a bad habit to get into, it takes your concentration off what you're doin. Last year I was stand hunting and texting to a friend in Maryland and one in New Hampshire at the same time and it occured to me just how far we've came in technology in the past 30 years. Unbelievable.
with a 77 year old hunting buddy we use talkabouts and when a deer is down someone will respond help drag out.
We only use walkie talkies when hunting unfamiliar grounds just incase someone gets lost. Other than that we don't use them.
