Cleaning and storing

Hello, I have a new CVA Optima with the nickle barrel. What is the best way to clean before putting away between shots. I currently have it in a hard case and I oiled the inside real well and I put a generous amount of gun oil on the outside. Do I need to wipe the excess off or is it better the way I did it?

What kind of powder are you using? I would clean the oil out of it and use natural lube 1000 from T/c. This makes it many times easier to clean. Check out this lube and the instructions. It reduces fouling after shots and smells better too. They also have a cleaner that is non petroleum.
Tom W is right on. Never use petroleum based oil on the inside of the barrel. Use the 1000 T/C. Oil on the outside of the gun is AOK however if you are concerned with scent a co. called "Crouse" sells a pine/cedar scented oil. The T/C 1000 also comes in pine scent.
