the best rifle to hunt deer with is the kind that will put them down. If you dont want a 30/06 and or looking at a 270 or a 308 dont really matter not much differance in them and they both will do the job just fine. Check out and hold in hand severial brands and models and find the one that fits you the best.As for ammo thats a whole nother story.You will have to find what the rifle you get likes to eat.Nobody can tell you what ammo will shoot the best only your rifle can do that.2 rifles of the same brand, model,barrel length,twist rate may not like the same ammo.Theres alot more to it than buying a rifle and a box of 150g ammo and hit the woods
