Hello all,

I'm writing a story about a hunter. I've never actually been hunting, so I've had to rely on books and what I can find online to fill in the considerable gaps. One question I can't find an answer to is this:

Is there a term for the place a hunter chooses to sit and watch for his prey? I know some hunters use stands, and some are actually mobile when they hunt...but what about when you simply find a place to sit or stand, and watch for deer?

The best I can come up with is 'lookout'. But I'm wondering if there's a term for it that I'm just not able to find.

Any responses would be much appreciated!
Thanks.

The most common term for a place where a hunter waits for deer is called a "stand". The word "blind" is also such a place, but it would usually refer to a place where some sort or man-made cover or natural groomed surroundings is being used to hide the hunter.
