This happens to be a very popular short action family. There is one family member not present for the family photo. Can you tell us the Grandpa of the family, those family members present with the Patriarch and the one member missing??

And, the answer is...... from the left: .243 Win, 7mm08, .308, .338 Fed, .358 Win. The one missing sibling was/is the .260 Rem.

I have a couple more if anyone is interested....

Where would the .300 Savage round fit it this bunch???

Father in law has a Savage Model 99 in .300 Savage and I have a Remington Model 81 in the same caliber. Would love to get my hands on that Model 99.

Great round for whitetail as I found out last season.

And oh yeah, you can continue on with the quizzes. I like them!

The .300 Savage doesn't have the same case or case capacity, but it's close enough to the .308 in performance that I'm sure no deer has ever noticed.:boxing:

I had a couple M99s over the years and did kill a decent Tennessee buck with one of them, just prior to Christmas one year. The M99 and that .300 are as classic a deer hunting combination as we've ever seen, including the M94 and 30/30.

What is shooting the 338 Fed like...

If you have the ammo I figure you have a rifle cambered for it. What is shooting the 338 Fed like? Does it kick alot more than the 308 loaded with 168 or 180 grain loads? How is it for accuracy in your rifle? Would you buy it again?

I do own a .338 Fed, a Ruger 77 Hawkeye. I also own two .358 Wins and several .308s. Depending on the type rifle you like/want, my vote goes like this: .358/BLR, .338 Fed bolt, .308, anything. I do not think it kicks any more than a 30/06 shooting 180gr as I have shot them back to back without feeling any difference. This was with a 200gr bullet at 2650+ (very similar to a .35 Whelen)
