Well in Indiana all you can only hunt with is archery equipment, muzzleloaders, and shotguns. You use slugs. I have a scope on my shotgun I hunt deer with. It is a little closer game than when hunting with a longrange rifle. Any questions I can answer just ask.

You can't shoot anywhere near as far as with a rifle but the better you know your gun the longer the shot possiblities. And it depends on the gauge of shotgun you choose. For me, I wouldn't shoot over 100 yards with it. But I will always op for the closer shot. I want to know without a doubt that when I sqeeze the trigger that the deer I am shooting at is going to drop there. Now, they don't always drop right there but they may run for say fifty yards then pile up. All I am saying is that I want to make sure it will be a efficient kill.

shotgun is up close and personal basicly a shot gun hunter has more skill than some one with a high powerd rifle since the shots are under 75 yard most of the ttime me i only shoot the betweer 0 yards and 50 i use 3 inch mags so i could go farther but i would rather of a clean quick kill
