I just bought a tikka t3 in 308 and would like to know what everybody shoots for their 308. This is my first rifle and will be my first year trying to rifle hunt. Any info would be great, Thanks everybody
I just checked the website and you have a twist rate of 1 in 11in. This is a little faster than the standard 1 in 12in. I would think you could shoot the 150gr and go all the way up to 180gr. Most 308 users I have seen getting ready for Deer select the 150gr load. I personally shoot a lightly loaded 30-06 using the Nosler 165gr Ballistic tip. Lighter bullets will tend to fly faster so they will shoot flatter. Decide what weight you want then try to test several different manufacturers loads in that weight. Your rifle will have a perferance.
I agree with one horse you did buy a nice rifle. I have shot them myself and you are blessed with a very smooth bolt. The bolt is my favorite feature of the rifle. The barrels must also be good because the ones I have seen shot or have shot were all very accurate.
