Thanks. Its certainly plenty powerful. Very flat shooting. My concern is the cost of the ammo and the performance vs the standard 270 - especially for whitetails. I see very little posted or written about it. As a result, will it sort of fade away or is it here to stay?

I always wanted a 270 and when I got the chance to buy one I got the short mag... Mistake for all the reasons listed in the posts above. Hunting here in SC there is really no yield on the few extra FPS and its doubtful that I have the shooting skill to capitalize on them anyway. She's still in great condition - maybe I can trade on a "regular" 270.
