I only know what I read in a magazine on the 270WSM

Guns and Ammo's Craig Bodington one of their senior writers/editors really likes it, and said that out of the short mags it made the most sense. I haven't priced the factory ammo but I bet it isn't inexpensive.

One note on the fat short mags

I have read several write-ups where the reviewer goes into detail all the work required by engineers to feed those fat cartridges cleanly. The standard 270Win, 280Rem, 308Win, and 30-06 all are much easier to work with. Also as Hunting Man pointed out there isn't much that a 270WSM can do that one of these listed won't. I personally think short mags are a solution for a non existant problem. Even though technically they are more efficent than the old standbys.
